Studies on the Production of Germfree Rats by Hysterectomy

Abstract
|

|
This experiment was carried out to product germfree rat. A flexible film vinyl isolator was used for absolute antmicrobial barrier. Baby rats obtained by hysterectomy were fed by hand feeding method.
The feeding catheter which is made of latex tube and core of mandolin string decreased the forced feeding irritation of baby rat´s esophagus. It was possible to rear and reproduce germfree rats derived from hysterectomy by hand feeding of artificial milk which contained cow$quot;s milk(fortified with vitamin and salt mixture] instead of rat´s milk. The equation between total feeding volume of artificial milk per day(Yml) and body weight of baby rat (Xg) was expressed by Y=0.321X-0.466.
